As I was watching The OC, I recognized I can relate relate to Seth's character. Seth is high off life. His strong sensitivity combined with his strive for clarity shapes his personality. He overanalyzes, overworks himself until some will swear he's lost his social skills...but he hasn't. Believe it or not, Seth has friends, not weird ones but in some cases popular folks who appreciate him for who he is. One of a kind.

I zone out, overanalyze, and feel sensitive. Continue to place me in one of the most evident social groups but recognize that I zone out to think what can be, overanalyze how to be a better person, and feel sensitive because I strive to present myself in a good manner. I have over 1,000 friends on Facebook and I am loved.

The Parkside Girls

We are The Parkside Girls and we reside in Parkside Residential Hall. We just want to tell you to "step your game up." Get at us: Miss Liz, Funmi Rae, Queen Green and yours truly ADUB.

This video was essentially created to let other students know which dorm runs USC, however, it's all purely for your entertainment. This is what happens when you need a study break at one o clock in the morning. This video ended up receiving a lot of comments from several usc students to the point where many recognized me and my girls on campus. We basically started a movement at my university. It goes to show that anything is possible when you let your voice be heard. Can't get enough? Don't worry, this isn't our last video. Part two coming soon! :)

Can Beauty Really Be Defined?

Girls in gowns or girls with natural hair? Girls covered up or girls stripped down? Guys with chest hair or none at all? Who is considered beautiful?

"Why aren't you putting on any makeup?" No disrespect but why are you asking me that? I choose not to wear it today. The laptop is placed in the center of the bathroom counter like a throne. It displays how to apply Alicia Key's eye shadow style on different skin tones. Red Carpet looks 2007. I might choose to throw on the eyeliner, but not like hers. My eyes haven't been glued to a screen in a while and it makes me feel lighter. I put on my heels though, making me feel higher. Right now I feel clean; but only for today. Cause I'll probably decide to apply blush the next day. The Alicia Keys way.

From another observation,

If this house were painted any solid color, it would not get half the attention it might've recieved. Shoot, it wouldn't even be on this blog. So, are the popular symbols on this house an object representing beauty? Hmmm

Facing the opponent is harder than it seems. At times, we would love to get up and walk away from this game of chess. These dreams we would love to pursue.

I wouldn't believe in myself if people never looked at me with satisfation. If I didn't put the twinkle in my grandmother's eye. If I wasn't the lovely grace bestowed upon friends and family. There is a path placed upon this earth and I must follow it.

Simple theory but it’s true, and this same form of glory can be achieved through whatever we want to do.

Our work is 24/7 controlling the soul, body, and mind. No matter what we do our work is never done, always room for improvement. We put in the hard work, the tears, and the sweat to make life a little more effortless. We can thank the crowd for our success, but moreover ourselves for taking the time. The inspiration was to make life fair for our mommas, but the ultimate question is: can we still stay humble?

Happy New Year!!!

Times were hard this year for everyone. The successful were tested, and the hopeful continued to dream bigger dreams. Our moments were beautiful though. Life took us to places we never expected and challenged our outlook on the world. 2009 made us stronger; it made us go hard or go home. Of course, every year affects us this way.

As we begin this new year, let us remember that it all starts with hope. The dream, the life, the achievements all include the hope to improve a certain situation in life. We've hoped for a promotion and this year may be the answer, we've hoped for better grades and it can be accomplished this year, we've hoped for a new electronic and we may be able to have enough money to purchase it in the upcoming months.

Hope is what influences us to achieve our goals and conquer our aspirations. "The Blind Side" is an extraordinary movie that shows us what comes after hope and how we go the extra mile to make positive changes in our lives. A homeless boy without shelter or family known as, "Big Mike," proves to have potential as an intelligent and loving individual once he is taken in by a wealthy and supportive family. Whether we need a push, like "Big Mike" or not, the hope for the future that we all have instilled in ourselves must be used as our driving force to help us make the most out of this new year. 2010 promises us the rewarding yet difficult experiences that we can only make the most out of if we are conscious to our behavior and our priorities in life. Let's aim to make the most of this year and create our own star story instead of watching other's lives unfold.

Excerpt from the mind of an interesting friend. I love transforming his thoughts into narrative form. I feel his pain, but it helps me to understand the meaning of beauty more and more everyday.

Sometimes, it’s the little things in life that are the greatest.

I watch that big u-haul truck lug away the best times of my life, the best friendship I ever had. Although many are able to watch and object grow farther and farther away until it is a tiny speck in the distance, I’m only able to watch the truck until it is 30 ft away from me in distance because my glasses are unreliable and ancient. U haul trucks should be illegal…I hope they see my (unmanly) hand, waving them goodbye. The fact that you saw me trip, and lunge over Fefe when I was running to keep up with the truck is the most embarrassing memory of myself I could leave you with. We didn't say much to each other during this moment. Mostly admired each other and let our eyes do the talking. I love you. Always.

~~You told me off when necessary and had me completely whipped for years~~. You were an angel for halloween for 4 years in a row starting at age 3 which showed your persistence. When we were bored I would take my batman fan/water spray I bought at six flags and blow it on your wavy, brown hair to make you look like a supermodel. After a trip to Disneyland you took off my glasses and told me that I could see anything I wanted to if I just believed. You never let me go. You and I both had a secret passion for math. Those are the forever 5. The five best things that I will always remember and use to describe my best friend in the whole wide world. Where she is now, I do not know. My overall thought of her is that she is simply beautiful, to me. It was a mixture of the sparkle in her eyes along with her determination to be a benign and successful individual that had me in awe. She was gorgeous, and she didn't even need me in her life. She had it all figured out.

I feel we will meet again. We have to. Our nerd-like behavior collided in a way that we could only understand. You would've been my girl forever, giving me the right to tell others that I am involved with the most beautiful girl in the whole world both inside and out. Are you lonely up there without me? Experiencing the holidays throughout the years has expressed the message that we must enjoy what we have. If your surrounded by friends and family, your holidays are going well. If you are eating a hearty meal on Christmas day, your holidays are going well. If you recieved gifts from loved ones, whether it was at the top of your Christmas list or not, your holidays are going well. Finally, if you are in the holiday spirit, you are experiencing the true meaning of this special time of year.

If you are upset because you didn't get that Nintendo Wii or piece of jewelry, de-stress by listening to The Christmas Song. Share enjoyment in the special gift another one may have recieved. Save your sulking until December 26 when you can buy whatever your heart desires for 50-70% off at various stores. Take yourself to the Bape store where they are having 50-70% off their pirate collection. You may see celebrities and you will be sporting an exclusive clothing line respected around the world. Watch the Nintendo 64 kids BMW Commerical on YouTube. Its hilarious. Spread positivity on Christmas day. Celebrate the Nativity. Love Thy Neighbor. Wear those snowflake toe socks and other festive clothing. Sing christmas carols around the house. Bake cookies for your grandma. Do something to make yourself happy during these special wintry days.

As for the New Year, if you did not get the gift you recieved on Christmas Day (we know this can be an issue) make an outstanding New Year's Resolution for yourself. Promise to lose weight because that is an amazing gift to yourself. Guys and girls will be all up on you with a coke bottle body or 6-pack, and who doesn't need to lose weight? Yes, I bet you can see yourself now.

Kanye West is a brilliant artist of our time who never ceases to amaze us with his music and his actions. He is on the path to changing his image and how he communicates with the public. I applaud him for acknowledging his flaws because I believe that his image is not necessarily his real, personal character. When artists put everything they have into their music, it's hard to separate their real life from the fame it receives.

Kanye had to make a presence on my blog. He's my favorite. This post is about more than just him so even if you do not care for him, the following is a composition of changing ourselves or the paths we follow, for the better.

Momma told me to clean my room but I didn't listen. She also told me to clean up my act but I still tuned her out. I guess I couldn't distinguish the two when I was young, because people don't give a care in the world what my place looks like unless I'm having an attitude in it. Before I knew it my life started feeling permanent. Situations leaving me in such a mess to the point where I need a miracle to change it. That miracle would be my spaceship. Spaceships take you high into the sky though. They pass certain limits nobody is ready for. Decorate this shuttle all you want, but you're still screaming like a little kid inside as you blast off, testing the boundaries of the world. I'm afraid to suddenly take a different path in my adventures, but I'm more curious to see what these differences in my lifestyle have in store for me. I would be leaving "home," but what's better than having an improved state of mind?

Attending the Jay-Z Blueprint 3 Tour at UCLA last night put me in the presence of greatness and really had me thinking about what he has to say...

We are often viewed as something we're not. Many people think they can judge someone and predict how far they will go in life based off their image or their past.

Stop staring, it was an easy question. They’re sitting back here during lecture eyeing me like I’m different, and its not because I’m tall. I know they’re all sitting there wondering, trying to figure out why I’m not dumb. They think my advisor is giving me extra help. They think Coach is pulling strings for me. They judge the way I rock my sweats and hoodie xxxl, they label me and put me in that group. That society. I raise my hand again, answer that next question and that done it. I heard one gasp. Girl please, that review question was clearly in yesterday's notes. I toss my pen up and down never missing a catch...that they’re used to. They understand when I catch the ball with ease, dribble it down the court, or throw it beyond imaginable. . Let me tell you this. There’s no coach, no advisor, no inside scoop. There is the confidence inside me. Its them telling me what I cannot be. Its you smirking at me. You need not say nothing. Your mouth is closed but I sense you degrading me. When you breathe out my limits you cloud my vision, creating a challenge I can build upon. She asks me, and I simply reply, “I’m not with the team.”

There was never a day off. Something always had to be dealt with. The readings that were to enrich his mind with wiser ways of approaching life were tossed in a corner underneath the bunks. His backpack untouched for the day. Right now he couldn't handle it, certain situations placed him in positions he wasn't ready for. A fresh blunt is solving his problems. He's aiming to fade to black. An hour left before security rechecks the building...

Thats how it is though, life constantly places us in positions we cannot prepare for. He's on his own now, so when they watched him race her down the floor to his room, clothes halfway off, people looked (internally judged) but said nothing. The next morning He watches her as she gets dressed and places a fresh headband on her hair for a new day. Has he forgotten about Tanya back in seattle? No. He thinks to himself that it will all go back to normal, the way things used to be next week. A fresh start next week. Yes it will be fresh homeboy, but once again, it will be blemished with new issues to explore. Your life has matured homie, it wears makeup now. Clean it off with a baby wipe tonight but cake it back on tomorrow to complement your new image.

Bleh. College is not easy but please don't let it shoot you down.

I let college shoot me down like a bird from the sky. No preparation, no forewarning, no parachute to help me land. I fell lifeless to the grounds of junior college. They won't let me back into such a prestigious university that I left from. They had the opportunity and told me to take it. That was history I could've made, they would've shut up and let me make it.

She was like six points away from freedom but the test got to her. She knew how to answer, but didn't write it. Pencil was not allowed, but her pen failed her because she was constantly scratching out words that did not belong. He was outside class, and through the window she could catch a glimpse of her future. What could be. I wish chris brown could transform me into a fly on the wall so I could help her but I am not there for her anymore. Sometimes I wish someone could scoop her off her feet and transform her herself so she would have the money the cars and the clothes. I wish she would go hard so she wouldn't make me feel this desperate for her. So this is when I play "Successful" and watch the time pass by, letting the story unfold. I wish I could keep my finger on this page, give her some time to breathe, to think about her life but the pages wait for know one, not needing my fingers to move on to the next one because the fall breeze is rapidly turning the pages chapter by chapter until it reaches the end of the novel volume 1. She receives an F giving her academic probation. Please don't get kicked out of higher education.

This is sounding more like a relationship love poem but in a way it is

because i loved you as my companion yet never treated you like one

the communication was never there.

the trust was never there (just playin)

and as i leave you at the house i move on to better things

but believe me, its not better

I still feel the same as you have always

alone and neglected

but for you, we can rescue another golden retriever or lab

so look ahead to your bright future

take the last bone i threw to you, and chew off the unwanted memories of your past
